Mike Auldridge, Dobro Takoma/Devi Records, D 1033, early 1970s, and Mike Auldridge & Old Dog Flying Fish Records, 1977.
I love the sound of the Dobro, now for some reason called the resophonic guitar. They are played on the lap (or held out flat if standing) and with a slide. I’m currently (at age 43) learning to play guitar, so maybe I’ll tackle Dobro too.
Auldridge also worked with a band called The Seldom Scene. A very clever name says I.
Another great Dobro player is Jerry Douglas, currently with Alison Krauss and Union Station.
You can hear samples at mikeauldridge.com or check out this video of Mike testing his signature Dobros before sending them out.
